Company News
NATIONAL MUSEUM FOR WOMEN IN THE ARTS: WDT was invited to present two short concerts on Sunday March 2, as part of the NMWA's festival entitled "Women Who Wow!". Valerie Durham and Cynthia Word presented interactive and educational performances introducing the art of Isadora Duncan to many people. It was wonderful to see the adults and children join us at the end for the concluding dance. Many audience members stayed to ask questions and express their delight with the dances.
BUSINESS VOLUNTEER FOR THE ARTS: WDT applied in November 2007 to the Business Volunteer for the Arts for assistance in creating a strategic plan and in building a strong foundation for our board of directors. We were very pleased when Eileen Rappaport of the BVA informed us that we had been accepted and assigned a volunteer, Kelly Bowling. Kelly specializes in strategic planning, metrics creation, and organizational development at Kaiser Permanente. On March 3, Kelly facilitated a retreat with the WDT Board of Directors in which we began creating our strategic plan for 2009-10 including metrics with which to evaluate the accomplishment of our goals and objectives. We are extremely pleased to have Kelly’s valuable assistance in creating our strategic plan and Board building. Thank you Business Volunteers for the Arts and welcome Kelly Bowling!

NATIONAL CATHEDRAL SCHOOL: Since late Fall 2007 Cynthia has been teaching Modern Dance classes at the National Cathedral School. She teaches classes for the Middle School girls twice a week and the Upper School girls twice a week. In addition, Cynthia is setting one solo of Isadora Duncan’s choreography entitled “Ballspiel” and one quartet named “Valse Brilliante” on the NCS High School students. The Middle School classes created a short dance for their Spring play as well. Cynthia has tremendously enjoyed working with the young women of NCS.
