Winter/Spring: Word Dance Theater will offer a Winter/Spring session of in-person classes for Adults & youth at the Dance Exchange in Takoma Park, MD as well as classes for Youth at various other studios.

Our classes offer study in the technique and philosophy of Isadora Duncan, the Mother of Modern Dance. Through improvisation and original repertoire, students study how the motions of water, wind, and trees inspire the natural movements of the human body while they learn to honor the dance within themselves and each other. This imaginative work supports the basic locomotor skills of skipping, leaping, and waltzing, and fosters individual and collective grace, honor, heroism, pride and freedom.

Tuition:

All tuition payments for session registration can be made by mail-in check to Word Dance Theater (see below) or upon Registration.

Discounts & Referrals:

10% Sibling Discount applies to 2nd student registration (i.e. for two children: 1 full tuition + 1 discount tuition).

Referral Credits will be issued and redeemable for the next Class session (FALL) provided that: a) both the new student and referral source are enrolled for & have paid for the current session; b) the new Student provides the referring Family’s/Student’s name upon Registration. Policies

Class Cancellations Policy

There are no refunds for any absences for classes unless the teacher cancels class. If canceling due to covid, teacher can cancel class if the majority of class has tested positive for covid. If the teacher cancels class for covid or for any other reason, all cancellations will attempt to be rescheduled. If class is not able to be rescheduled then students will receive a tuition refund for that class. 

Covid Policy

Students will not attend class if they have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the previous 5 days of class; will not attend if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 including but not limited to fever, coughing, muscle pain, or new loss of taste or smell; will not attend if they have knowingly been exposed to someone with a suspected/confirmed case of COVID-19 within 5 days. Classes will follow the county masking policy where they occur.

Inclement Weather Policies

In the event of inclement weather, parents and students are responsible for checking for changes to the Word Dance Theater Youth schedule which will be posted on the homepage of our website by the following times:

7:00 am: For classes that begin between 8:30am-2:00pm
12:00 pm: For classes that begin at 3:00pm or later.

If Montgomery County Schools close, WDT will not have classes that day. 

Liability

All students/guardians will be required to submit a signed liability acknowledgment prior to class participation.
